History of Muscular Dystrophy Genomics

As part of Making Genomic Medicine project, I worked with the History of Modern Biomedicine group at Queen Mary University of London for the Witness Seminar on Therapeutic Implications of Muscular Dystrophy Genomics. The edited transcript of this seminar is to be published and made freely available on their website in April 2017.

Muscular dystrophy is one of 7000 rare diseases but relatively well-known among them – owing in part to the active work of patient organizations internationally and also because of its historical significance in advance in medical genetics and genomic medicine. This volume explores not only the scientific work to understand the disease but also what such understanding meant in terms of medical practice.
